2024 Main Grant - Space2Grow #35
Thanks to continued support from Barnet Council Family Services, Young Barnet Foundation was able to continue to offer a Main Grant of up to £9,000 to Members for projects which addressed the following themes:
• Early Intervention & Prevention
• Suicidal Ideation
• Supporting Children & Young People from Ethnic Minorities
• Supporting Young Carers​

Awards:
Action Youth Boxing Intervention (AYBI) - £9,000
Funding for a preventative programme aimed at empowering vulnerable young people using fitness and mentoring to build resilience and encourage positive behavioural change. Focused on those at risk of bullying, isolation, exclusion, truancy or involvement in criminal activity.

Art Against Knives - £9,000
Funding for co-produced Therapeutic Support Groups for marginalised young women / girls / trans / non-binary young people, from Global Majority backgrounds. Following a successful pilot of this project which identified a gap in appropriate and accessible psychological support.

Bread n Butter CICI - £5,050
Funding to provide upskilling cooking classes for Barnet Young Carers to improve their wellbeing.

Chazak Ltd - £7,404
Funding to provide a series of after school youth work sessions, focusing on early support and prevention via mental health mentoring to support a minority ethnic community at higher risk of mental health struggles due to existing stigma around talking about mental health, and the need for culturally sensitive support.

Community Network Group CIC - £6,812
Funding to deliver a series of weekly workshops to Children and Young People aged 8-18 focusing on mental well-being, stress management and coping strategies, with an emphasis on early intervention and prevention.

Fun Unique Social Enterprise C.I.C. - £5,650
Funding to deliver 1:1 and group mentoring sessions at One Stonegrove Community Centre.

Unitas Youth Zone - £7,439
Funding to provide mentoring and group support programmes to support Young People, and enhancing their existing offer by providing Young People with access to Mental Health First Aiders through the provision of staff training.

The Reflection Project - £9,000
Funding to provide Free, in person faith and culturally sensitive child psychotherapy to Children and Young People aged 2-18, additional work with parents where required to support the therapy, and access to their professional network liaison to ensure safe, consistent therapeutic support around the child.

Jewish Women's Aid - £4,500
Funding for the delivery of specialised 1:1 therapy for children who live in the Borough of Barnet up to the age of 18 years, whose mothers have fled domestic abuse and are being supported by Jewish Women’s Aid.
Jewish Family Centre - £4,725
Funding for the provision of a Family Support Worker to work with Jewish families in Barnet, to help identify mental health needs, tailor appropriate programmes and where relevant, signpost to other support services. In addition, to run a weekly drop-in advice clinic.
Head Held High - £3,420
Funding for the provision of a 6 week behavioural change workshop in partnership with the Ben Kinsella Trust.

N.B – an additional £2,000 was contributed to this fund by the Barnet Recreational Trust, and their funding was used to part fund the award to Action Youth Boxing Intervention
