LOCAL CHARITY 'PASS IT ON' NETBALL TOURNAMENT A SUCCESS
Underneath basking sunshine on Sunday 21st May, over 200 women and girls participated in the Young Barnet Foundation’s first charity netball tournament, held at Copthall School.
A lively tournament for Under 15s was followed by a fiercely competitive, yet fun, adults competition, won by Tuesday Tornadoes. The afternoon also featured the first outing of Barnie, the Young Barnet Foundation's mascot.
As well as an opportunity to grow support for the work of the Young Barnet Foundation (YBF) and its members, the event raised funds for YBF's Space 2 Grow Children and Young People’s Fund, which is open to local charity and voluntary organisations across the Borough to help them grow opportunities and activities for children and young people.
Janet Matthewson CEO of the Young Barnet Foundation said “Today signifies what the Young Barnet Foundation is all about, bringing the community together for good, raising money to help address local need, whilst having fun and being active. The Young Barnet Foundation is the platform for local possibilities, we need everyone to support us and work with us so that our children and young people can be the best that they can be. A huge thank you to all our supporters who I know are already looking forward to next year!”
The Young Barnet Foundation welcomed the support of local businesses, including Nats Netball Club, who partnered with the Young Barnet Foundation, Anytime Fitness and Shakestastic who sponsored the event, Pentland Brands (Mitre) for supplying netballs, and Barry M and the many other local companies who supplied raffle prizes.
