SMASHfestUK Coming To Barnet This May
Would you like to take part in SMASHfestUK, a free STEM/Arts community festival, in Colindale on Sat 13 May @ The BEST Hub (Old Orion School)? The specific aim is to increase diversity and widen participation in STEM/the Arts, focusing on 5-12 year olds. In May, they're touring London!
SMASHfestUK focuses on a different natural disaster each year, exploring how to survive and rebuild society after the events. This year's theme is 'Supervolcano', featuring art installations, experiments, performances, and a 'Survival Village' - with real scientists & engineers! Their main festival in Deptford during Feb half-term reached almost 10,000 visitors (4000 at the festival, 5,500 in our school outreach).
They're linking up with creative organisations & community/youth groups in Barnet. Completely free and family-friendly, they want local people to feel that the festival is for them, and by them too. Would YOU like to collaborate? They're open to:
creative workshops/activities
performances (e.g. spoken word, music)
art installations
storytelling
exhibits
...anything!
