Growing Local Opportunities – Young Barnet Foundation awards over £21,000 to 10 local Charities.
Young Barnet Foundation is pleased to announce that the first round of our Space 2 Grow Children and Young People’s Fund grants have been awarded.
Applications were assessed by an independent panel and funding was awarded to 10 organisations delivering across Barnet. Janet Matthewson CEO of the Young Barnet Foundation said the 'Space 2 Grow' fund is an important part of what we do – we believe that we as a community need to invest in our local organisations so that they can continue to help support our children and young people. The fund gives us, as a community, the mechanism to ‘give locally’ and make an impact on our own doorstep. Young Barnet is the platform for possibilities and we need partners and the wider community to support our work for the local network because together we are so much stronger.”
It is estimated that the funding will benefit over 300 children and young people in Barnet, with projects delivered across the Borough including: 1:1 mentoring for those in or on the fringe of gangs; music tuition for those struggling with education; training volunteers for community events; employability mentoring; and drama workshops raising awareness of violence against girls/women.
The 'Space 2 Grow' Children and Young Peoples Fund will open again later this year, dates to be confirmed, for applications from member groups working with children and young people (0-25) in Barnet, see website for further details.
The grant is made up of Funding from John Lyon’s Charity, City Bridge Trust, along with local Business and individual donations.
